Moving your caravan on uneven surfaces and into
confined spaces can be time consuming and difficult.
There is an easier and safer way!
Here are some key points to consider:
Manoeuvring a caravan can be a daunting task,
but it can be a breeze with the right knowledge
and expertise. Motor movers have been available
for many years helping to move caravans, boats,
horse floats and trailers with ease. Motor movers
are a safer option for those who do not feel
confident reversing their vehicle to manoeuvre
their caravan. Essentially, they are devices
that allow you to position your caravan without
having to use your car or by pushing the caravan
manually by hand.
Are there different kinds of Motor
Movers?
The most popular versions of motor movers are
operated by remote control, allowing you to have
hands free operation while giving you the ability
to move your caravan around as you park it into
position with pin point accuracy.
There are different versions available, fixed
motor movers that drive the tyres using a roller
wheel which attach to the chassis, or portable
motor mover trolleys which are independent
from the vehicle and attach to the A frame of a
caravan or trailer using a suitable bracket.
How does a Fixed Tyre Driven
Motor Mover work?
Tyre driven movers are permanently fixed to
the vehicle and are available in two options,
automatic or manual. The automatic motor
mover engages the rollers onto the tyres using
12 volt actuators. The manual movers are
engaged using a crank handle. Both styles of
movers are operated via a remote control.
Different kits are available for single axle, twin axle (2 motor) and twin axle (4 motor). This type
of setup involves mounting the motors to the
chassis using the provided bars and installation
kit, which are suited to the European Al-ko
chassis. The controllers are mounted inside
the caravan and include a complete installation
kit with all wiring and fuses. Powered by the caravan’s 12 volt house battery these are
recommend to have at least 100amp/hr battery
capacity.
The advantage of these movers are they travel
on the vehicle as they are permanently fitted
and the remote control allows you the freedom
to move around the caravan as you park it into
position.
What are the advantages of a
Portable Motor Mover Trolley?
Motor Mover Trolleys are compact and durable
movers with tank/bulldozer like rubber tracks.
They are available in 3 sizes 1500kg, 2500kg or 4500kg max capacity, so there is one available
no matter what size caravan you have. There is
no installation required as Motor Mover Trolleys
are independent from the vehicle. You will
simply require a suitable bracket that attaches
to the A frame of your caravan, which you can
install yourself. The Robot Trolley is also operated by a remote
control allowing the user to walk around the
caravan while manoeuvring. Powered by a
rechargeable battery the motor mover will
operate continuously for 30 minutes, reaching
elevations up to 10%.
The advantage of the Robot Trolley is that you
can move your caravan, boat, horse float or
trailer all with the one mover just by installing a
single bracket on each A frame.
